Passionate about health and fitness his entire life, Alex Drysdale tested numerous diets and workouts, investigating the impact these choices have on animal welfare and the environment. To nurture the entrepreneurial bug, he quit his job with CN Rail, sold everything, and moved to Barcelona to learn about eCommerce. While in Europe, Alex discovered the concept of crickets as a sustainable source of nutrition and saw that they were underrepresented as a food source in the health and fitness sector. He founded Crik Nutrition to develop and produce protein powder made with crickets. In under 18 months, Crik was crowdfunded within 24 hours, named one of the World’s 20 Hottest Startups by CNBC, and listed in the Top 10 Companies to Watch by Food in Canada Magazine. Launched on Earth Day 2015, Crik now has sales in 22 countries around the globe.
