What motivates you?

Creating future technologies to try and open space for examining their limitations, failures and impacts before we embrace them as a society.

What do you do for a living, and why?

I am an artist technologist who lives in Winnipeg. I create inventions to spark questions about how art, vision and technology influence and interact with one another.

Why are you excited to speak at TEDxManitoba?

Within my practice I feel that the best way to learn about an idea is to make them real. Being a part of TEDx provides me with a great opportunity to test and learn more about my own ideas in the process of sharing them with others.

What is your idea worth spreading?

If, as suggested by Media theorists, that our culture and ideas are embedded in the technology we create then it may be possible to explore and experience and critique alternative forms of culture and ideas through the invention of new technologies.

What’s your connection to Manitoba?

After training as an engineering technologist, I came to Manitoba to study contemporary dance. I have now lived in Winnipeg for 7 years and have come to deeply appreciate the thriving communities of art and design that call this city home.
