Five Questions with Joseph Ranseth

What motivates you?

josephransethprofileAs marketers, we understand the mechanics by which people make decisions, and the tools & strategies needed to influence those decisions to engineer transactions. The shift that is necessary, however, is that marketers begin to use their superpowers for good, instead of evil. True change comes not by controlling actions (discipline), but by changing the way that people think… disposition, their natural inclination to act. By embracing purpose-driven principles, we begin to see higher than just transactions alone and begin to engineer true transformation, like the greatest marketers in history: Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa, etc.

What do you do for a living, and why?

Which TED talk do you think everyone should watch?

Simon Sinek: How Great Leaders Inspire Action

Why are you excited to speak at TEDxManitoba?

I believe there is a collective shift happening in the way that we view the world and interact with it. I believe that people want to do good, to make things better, and there is plenty of every day genius waiting to be shared to empower us to take positive, effective action.

What is your idea worth spreading?

By embedded these concepts into our thoughts & behaviours, we become agents of change. It’s necessary to understand how human behavior has changed, and is changing, in order to incorporate these principles into our daily life using modern technology.
