Five Questions with Leif Norman
What motivates you?
Teaching others and solving problems. Making images and preserving places with those photographs.
What do you do for a living, and why?
I am a full time commercial and event photographer. It was a strong interest that turned into a money-making thing that turned into how I make almost all my money.
Which TED talk do you think everyone should watch?
Why are you excited to speak at TEDxManitoba?
I am looking forward to hearing what other people have to say. And also, it will push me into formulating these vague ideas in my head, so I can communicate them.
What is your idea worth spreading?
What is the past and present state of photography? Is it dead, or just waking up? How can past technologies inform us about ourselves, and even help us predict the future?
What’s your connection to Manitoba?
I have lived here my whole life, except for a while when I lived in Toronto and Manchester, England. I could not be a successful photographer without all my connections in Winnipeg.
