Five Questions with Patrick O’Reilly

What motivates you?

I’m excited by big ideas, inspired by people who make them come to life and motivated by trying to be one of those people.

What do you do for a living, and why?

I’m a certified executive coach and I own a leadership coaching company where a team of amazing coaches help leaders throughout North America to become even better at leading great teams of people and hugely successful organizations. Every day we help good leaders become great and strong teams become extraordinary.

Which TED talk do you think everyone should watch?

Why are you excited to speak at TEDxWinnipeg?

I spend a lot of time working with really good people who sometimes struggle to make things great. The idea I want to spread is one that has helped me, and many of those good leaders, and I’m thrilled to be able to share it more widely.

What’s your connection to Manitoba?

I grew up on the prairies but spent most of my adult life working in Ottawa. In 2007 I became the Chief Federal Negotiator to create the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and in 2008 moved here to launch that incredible project and national wonder as its first acting CEO. By the time I left the project in 2011 I had fallen in love with Winnipeg, and a very special Winnipegger, and decided to stay here, launching a Manitoba based business.
