About

Ideas worth spreading, right here in Winnipeg.

TEDxWinnipeg holds a one-day event each year in Winnipeg, MB. The event is a volunteer-run nonprofit, and no appearance fees are paid to speakers — for us, it’s all about spreading great ideas.

Our story

From TEDxManitoba to TEDxWinnipeg.

Originally known as TEDxManitoba, the annual event changed its name in 2015 in keeping with changes to the TEDx naming guidelines. Since our first event in February 2011, we’ve hosted more than 160 TEDx Talks, each one representing an idea worth spreading.

TEDxWinnipeg Team

Event & Operations Team

It takes a lot of moving parts to turn a collection of great ideas into a TEDxWinnipeg event. Our Event & Operations Team brings those pieces together, handling everything from planning, finance and sponsorship to volunteers, stage management, technology, photography, catering and the many details that shape the audience experience. They’re the people working across the event to make sure everything — and everyone — is where it needs to be.

Marketing and Communications Team

Great ideas need an audience. Our Marketing & Communications Team helps people discover TEDxWinnipeg, understand what we’re doing and stay connected with us before, during and after the event. The team brings together marketing, social media, graphic design, video, web, copywriting, public relations and other communications skills to tell the TEDxWinnipeg story and help our speakers’ ideas travel well beyond the stage.

Speaker Team

A great idea doesn’t automatically become a great TEDx Talk. Our Speaker Team works closely with each speaker for months to help sharpen the idea, shape the story and prepare them to deliver it confidently on stage. Together, the team brings more than 260 years of performance experience, drawing on backgrounds in theatre, public speaking, coaching, idea distillation, script writing, slide creation, communications and audience engagement to help each speaker create the strongest talk they can.
