Speakers for TEDxWinnipeg 2016
TEDxWinnipeg is pleased to announce our first two confirmed speakers for this year’s event. Join us on June 2nd to hear Israel Idonije (Israel Idonije Foundation) on “Building Successful People” and Dr. Nicole Buckley (Canadian Space Agency) on her research into Health & Aging in Space.
Dr. Buckley was with us in 2011 talking about Canada’s Role in Space, and Israel Idonije is well-known in our province even beyond UofM Bisons fandom. We’re thrilled to announce these two influential leaders will head our list of inspiring talks for 2016.
Joining Nicole Buckley and Israel Idonije in our speaker lineup this year are Daniel Blair, Matt Cohen, Alex Drysdale, Stephen Dubienski, Cheryl Ferguson, Earl Gardiner, Alexandra Hasenpflug, Dwight MacAulay, Laszlo Pinter, Janet Schmidt, and Madison Thomas.
What motivates you?
Being able to research and understand something in great detail and then relaying that info to people in a fun and easily digestible way.
What do you do for a living and what do you love about it?
I work in advertising as a senior copywriter and marketing strategist. My field is incredibly rewarding because I get to spend my days coming up with creative ways to solve business challenges.
What motivates you?
For me, like most artists I think, motivation can sometimes be a difficult thing to find. We don’t have clear markers of success and progress like a lot of professions do. From within I think it comes from a place of wanting to share unique stories through film that might not be told otherwise. Externally I find motivation from my communities, friends and my students. When I see my colleagues making cool films and art it motivates me to do the same. My students motivate me with their energy and willingness to learn which motivates me to be the best role model I can be for them but as an artist and as a person.
