TED is a non-profit organization which began as a one-time event in 1984, and became an annual technology, entertainment and design conference. In 2010, TED began licensing independently-run “TEDx” events to share ideas in communities around the world. TED has since become the most popular online lecture series, ever.

TEDx Winnipeg began in 2011 as TEDxManitoba, and continues as the province’s largest and longest-running TEDx conference. Past TEDxWinnipeg speakers have gone on to gain national and international attention, being interviewed by media such as The National and the New York Times, and being featured on the TED stage in New York. Videos of past TEDxWinnipeg Talks have been viewed online more than 700,000 times and are available at tedxwinnipeg.ca.
